In 2015, Corran-Deel purchased the field next to Feenagh Community Centre with the intention of opening a community park. We subsequently received planning permission and the project got a major boost in January 2021 with an allocation of €100,000 from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Feenagh Park will be developed in two phases:
- Phase 1
Development of entrance, parking, walkways, lighting, sensory garden.
- Phase 2
Provision of playground
In addition to the Town and Village Renewal Scheme from the Department of Rural and Community Development (administered by Limerick City & County Council), we are also indebted to the funding received and/or pledged from:
- The Kilmeedy Barn Dance Committee
- The JP McManus Benevolent Fund
- Corran-Deel VHA
- Local County Councillors Municipal Funding
Costs
The projected cost of Phase 1 is approximately €200,000 of which €165,000 has either been received or pledged. This leaves a deficit of €35,000.
On completion of Phase 1, we will review our funding and hopefully produce a plan which will allow us to proceed with Phase 2 (playground). This has an estimated cost of €100,000.
